Entry Requirements: Visas and Passport
Generally all countries in the world have their own entry requirements (visa and passport requirements) which must be met before entry into that country can be granted. These entry requirements as they pertain to visas and passports often have some common set of international standards. The case is the same for the Commonwealth of Dominica.
For traveling to Dominica, passports are a general requirement, except for the nationals of OECS (Organization of the Eastern Caribbean States) such as Antigua & Barbuda, , Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent & the Grenadines, Grenada, Saint Kitts & Nevis, and Dominica, in which case a valid driver’s license, voter’s registration card will be accepted upon entry into Dominica. This also includes French Nationals (stay limited to two weeks when entering with a Carte d’Identité Nationale) and Canadian nationals who hold a valid Birth Certificate, and or photo I.D such as a valid Driver’s License. For natives of some specific countries, a visa is required for entry into Dominica. When applying for a Dominica visa for entry into Dominica, the corresponding application form must be accompanied with the required documents. These include: a bank statement from bank or sponsor, a valid passport and 2 passport sized recent photographs, letter of employment or proof of self employment, an invitation letter, a medical report including HIV/AIDS test result, recent police record issued within the preceding three months of application. The application fee is USD $52.00 or Eastern Caribbean Dollar $133.00. All relevant information must be written or translated into English, and the applicant’s signature must be notarized or sworn to before a Commissioner of Oaths, whose full contact information must be provided in the corresponding stamp or seal. The length of stay in the island is stipulated by the island’s immigration officer upon arrival at the port of entry, while a maximum stay of six months may be granted to nationals of Argentina, Antigua & Barbuda, Belgium, Costa Rica, France, Germany, Greece, Grenada, Ireland, the Republic of Israel, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Netherlands, Norway, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent & the Grenadines, Suriname, Sweden, the United States of America and Venezuela. Included to this list are, the holders of British passports irrespective of endorsement in their passport regarding national status, holder of Chinese Taipei documents, tourists and transit passengers holding return tickets for a maximum stay of twenty-one days. In order to enter the island, all visitors must hold onward or return tickets including entry documents for their next destination and sufficient funds to cover their stay.

Visa exemption is provided to family and relatives of alien residents who hold a valid Residence Permit for Dominica as well as holders of consular, diplomatic, official and special passports that are accredited by Dominica. Visas are also not required for merchant Seamen traveling to the island must present a valid Seaman Book along with a valid passport and Letter of Guarantee of company shipping. .
All visas for entrance to the island must be granted via the Ministry of Immigration and Labour, located at the Government Headquarters, Roseau, or via a British Consular Office abroad.

It forms part of the Greater Antilles, and its capital is Santo Domingo; the official language spoken is Spanish.
